Resonance: Vibrant Visions for Artistic Futures

Scholarship Fundraiser | Call for Artists

 

The Frankfort Arts Association invites its member artists to participate in Resonance: Vibrant Visions for Artistic Futures, an annual scholarship fundraiser supporting a Frankfort student pursuing a degree in the arts.

 

This year, volunteer artists will transform wooden birdhouses into functional works of art. Each birdhouse will be exhibited and auctioned, with all proceeds benefiting the FAA Scholarship Fund.

 

About the Project

Participating artists will each receive one unfinished wooden birdhouse to transform creatively while maintaining its intended function.

 

For this year’s fundraiser, FAA has:

• 21 birdhouses total

• Three different birdhouse styles

• Seven of each style, assigned on a first-come, first-served basis

 

Birdhouses should be fully functional and finished for outdoor use. While some collectors may choose to display their birdhouse indoors, many buyers will hang or mount them outside. Artists are expected to use materials, finishes, and sealants appropriate for weather exposure.

 

Creative Guidelines

Artists are encouraged to bring their own style and interpretation to the project, with the following expectations:

• Birdhouses must remain functional, with entry holes accessible and structure intact

• Decorative elements should not interfere with use by birds

• Materials and finishes should be durable and weather-resistant

• Pieces should be safe to handle and capable of being hung or mounted outdoors

Minor structural or decorative alterations are acceptable, provided the birdhouse remains stable and functional.

 

Eligibility & Participation

• Open to Frankfort Arts Association member artists

• All experience levels are welcome

• This is a volunteer-based project; artists will not receive payment for participation

Each artist may participate with one birdhouse. Artist names will be credited alongside their work in the exhibit and auction materials.

 

Process & Timeline

Sign-Up
Artists must sign up using the form below.

Birdhouse Pick-Up
After signing up, artists may pick up their birdhouse at Underground during regular open hours (Tue-Sun, 10 AM - 1 PM). Birdhouse styles will be assigned based on availability at the time of pick-up.

Creative Process
Artists are responsible for priming, painting, sealing, and finishing their birdhouse for outdoor use.

Deadline for Return
Completed birdhouses must be returned to Underground by:
March 28, 2026

 

Exhibition & Auction

All completed birdhouses will be:

• Exhibited as part of Resonance: Vibrant Visions for Artistic Futures

• Auctioned online to raise funds for the FAA Scholarship Program

By participating, artists directly support arts education and creative opportunity within the community.

 

Artwork Information Submission

After completing your birdhouse, artists will be asked to submit artwork information through a short form. This information will be used for labels and online auction listings and includes:

• Title of artwork

• Mediums or materials used

• Optional description or statement
