Create a 13 Moon Drum at the Full Moon
Balance your energy as we move into fall!
Service Description
Create a very special drum with one side for each moon of the year. Creating your own drum—your own rhythmic partner—is always a meaningful experience, and this is an especially distinctive drum. If we followed a lunar year, there would be 13 moon cycles rather than 12 months of unequal length. The September full moon offers a special opportunity to create this drum in the energy of the full moon. During class, you will tie and tack elk hide onto a 13-sided cedar frame, with one side representing each moon cycle of the year. You will also make a drum mallet. Elk hide is featured, but if you prefer deer, bison, or horse hide, please register at least two weeks in advance and contact the instructor after registering at info@dawnwrobel.com. Please bring a bath towel to use as a work surface and to wrap your finished drum for the trip home. You may also bring your own stick for the drum mallet if you prefer. Wear comfortable clothing that you do not mind getting a little wet or exposed to glue. The instructor, Dawn Wrobel, is a drum maker and drum circle facilitator with almost 20 years of experience teaching drum making.
