The Summerfolk Flotilla
Upcycled Homemade Boats
Service Description
In 1968 Weekly Reader published a book by Doris Burn called the Summerfolk. Within the pages of this book are locals and tourists. The locals don't think much of the tourists visiting their beach, swamp, and dune. One magical day, they all come together to celebrate childhood by floating together with their boats strung together. In this class, we will share the book and create our own "flotilla" with scraps of miscellaneous materials. Every boat will start with a sketch and finish with a 3D representation made with all kinds of interesting notions. At the end of class, we will attach them for a brief parade of homemade boats.
