An exhibit of self-portraits by FAA members
February 4 - April 3, 2026

FAA member artists (with Artist-level paid membership) are invited to submit entries for an exhibit at Frankfort Village Hall
We invite FAA members to create and submit a self-portrait in any style or medium. Your work may be realistic, abstract, symbolic, or experimental — anything that reflects how you choose to represent yourself.
All artwork must be wall-hanging and able to hang securely from a hook.
Pedestal-based or freestanding works cannot be accepted due to Village Hall display requirements.
Paintings, drawings, photography, mixed media, digital prints, and other 2D formats are welcome.
Examples of Self-Portraits You Can Submit
To help guide your submission, here are some examples of what qualifies as a self-portrait for this exhibit:

Traditional self-portraits: A realistic painting or drawing of your face or figure.

Interpretive or abstract portraits: Shapes, colors, or expressive marks that represent you.

Symbolic portraits: Objects or imagery that stand in for who you are (your identity, interests, tools, memories, etc.).

Photographic self-portraits: Including conceptual or creative photography.

Mixed-media portraits: Collages or artworks that combine photos, drawing, paint, or found materials.

Digital self-portraits: Created using digital illustration, painting apps, or edited photography.

Partial portraits: Works focused on your eyes, hands, or another part of you that represents your creative identity.

Activity-based portraits: Depicting yourself doing something meaningful or everyday (painting, sketching, creating, etc.).
All artwork must be able to hang on the wall from a hook.
Freestanding or pedestal-based works cannot be accepted at the Village Hall.
Guidlines

FAA member artists may submit one original work to be included in the show.

Most subjects, styles, and techniques will be accepted, from realistic to abstract.

Submitted works can be in any medium. but must be able to hang from a hood on the wall.

Due to space limitations, works must be no larger than 20" x 20", including the frame
-
The Village requests that nothing overtly political or controversial be displayed.

Unless you hear otherwise, consider your entry accepted for the members' show.
Rules

The exhibit is open to active FAA Member Artists.

To participate in this exhibit, member artists must complete the online entry form below and upload a photo of their artwork.

The uploaded image will be used on the FAA website for display, and if the piece is listed for sale, for purchase. If Not for Sale, the photo may still appear but marked unavailable.

Work must be properly wired and ready to hang. No sawtooth hangers. Wires should not show above the work. Work should be framed unless created on a gallery-wrapped canvas at least 1.5" thick. Wrapped edges must be finished. Fiber art is accepted, but must include a method to hang it on our hook system.

Attach a label to the back of your work with your name and the piece’s title.

Curators reserve the right to refuse work that does not meet requirements or is considered too fragile for display.

All work remains on exhibit for the full duration of the show. Sold work remains in place until the show ends. FAA will arrange pick-up with the buyer afterward.

Unless requested otherwise, FAA may use images of exhibited work for publicity and educational purposes.
Fees and Commission

There is a nonrefundable $15 participation fee. After submitting your entry, please make your payment.

FAA retains 30% commission on each work sold.

Work may be marked as Not for Sale.

Exhibit dates: February 4 - April 3, 2026
Deadline for entries: Wednesday, January 28, 2026
Delivery of artwork: Monday, February 2, 9–11 AM or 3–5 PM
Opening reception: Wednesday, February 4, 2026, 6:00–7:00 PM
Pick-up date: Monday, April 6, 9–11 AM or 3–5 PM
