Juried Fine Art Exhibition

The Frankfort Arts Association (FAA) invites artists to apply for Art on the Green 2026, a juried fine art exhibition held in the heart of downtown Frankfort, Illinois, on picturesque Breidert Green.

Surrounded by local shops, live music, children’s art activities, and the Frankfort Farmers Market, Art on the Green offers a vibrant and welcoming setting for artists and visitors alike. Cash awards will be presented during the event.

Artist Eligibility

Art on the Green is a fine art–focused exhibition. All work must be original and created by the exhibiting artist.

Artists may:

  • Exhibit work in one or more media

  • Sell prints and printed merchandise featuring their original artwork

  • Share a booth with up to two other artists

 

Fees

Application (Jury) Fee
$25 per artist (non-refundable)

Booth Fees (paid after acceptance)

  • Solo artist (1 artist per booth): $50

  • Shared booth (2 artists): $25 per artist

  • Shared booth (3 artists): $30 per artist

A maximum of three (3) artists may share one booth. Booth fees are assessed per artist after acceptance.

 

Booth Information

  • Booth size: 10’ x 10’

  • Artists must provide their own tent, display walls, tables, and chairs

  • Tents must be securely weighted (stakes are not permitted)

  • Electricity and Wi-Fi are not available

 

Artwork Guidelines

 

Original Work

  • All artwork must be original, conceived, and executed by the exhibiting artist

 

Media

  • Artists may exhibit work in multiple media

  • Media selections are for informational purposes only and do not affect jurying or awards.

  • Mass-produced or commercially manufactured items that do not feature the exhibiting artist’s original artwork, or that are not clearly connected to the artist’s fine art practice, are not permitted

 

Prints & Merchandise

  • Up to 50% of booth display space may be dedicated to prints and printed merchandise

  • Prints do not need to be limited edition

  • All prints and merchandise must feature the artist’s original artwork and be produced or authorized by the artist

  • Acceptable items may include prints, notebooks, tote bags, mugs, or similar goods

  • Printed items must remain clearly connected to the artist’s fine art practice and may not dominate the booth

  • Items featuring stock imagery, licensed designs, third-party artwork, or artwork not created by the exhibiting artist are not permitted

 

Shared Booths

  • Up to three (3) artists may share a single 10’ x 10’ booth

  • Each artist must apply separately, submit their own images, and pay the $25 application fee

  • Artists must list the name(s) of the artist(s) they intend to share a booth with during the application process

  • Booth fees are assessed per artist after acceptance

  • Artists sharing a booth must clearly identify their individual work within the booth

  • Each artist in a shared booth remains eligible for individual awards

 

Awards

Cash awards will be presented to individual artists. Artwork will be evaluated by the judge(s) based on artistic skill, creativity, and overall merit. Awards are not category-based. Judges’ decisions are final.

Artist Terms & Conditions

By submitting an application to Art on the Green (AOTG), the Exhibitor agrees to the following terms and conditions governing participation in the event.

 

Exhibitor Presence & Participation

  • The Exhibitor must be present to exhibit and manage their booth for the full duration of Art on the Green on Sunday, June 7, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

  • Exhibitors are limited to their assigned booth space(s). Booth assignments are non-transferable.

  • Artists who have not been accepted, invited, and who have not paid all required fees will not be permitted to exhibit.

  • Upon acceptance, participation in the event constitutes a commitment to exhibit as approved.

 

Artwork Requirements

  • All artwork must be original, conceived, and executed by the exhibiting artist.

  • Artists may exhibit work in one or more media, provided all work aligns with the fine art focus of Art on the Green.

  • Media selections provided during the application process are descriptive only and do not affect judging.

  • Mass-produced or commercially manufactured items that do not feature the exhibiting artist’s original artwork, or that are not clearly connected to the artist’s fine art practice, are not permitted.

  • The Frankfort Arts Association (FAA) reserves the right to determine whether artwork meets the standards and intent of Art on the Green.

 

Reproductions & Printed Merchandise

  • Up to 50% of booth display space may be dedicated to prints and printed merchandise.

  • Prints are not required to be limited edition.

  • All reproductions and printed merchandise must feature the exhibiting artist’s original artwork and be produced or authorized by the artist.

  • Acceptable items may include, but are not limited to, prints, notebooks, tote bags, mugs, or similar goods.

  • Printed items must remain clearly connected to the artist’s fine art practice and may not be the primary focus of the booth.

  • Items featuring stock imagery, licensed designs, third-party artwork, or artwork not created by the exhibiting artist are not permitted.

 

Shared Booths

  • Up to three (3) artists may share a single 10’ x 10’ booth.

  • Each artist sharing a booth must submit a separate application, provide individual images, and pay a non-refundable application (jury) fee.

  • Artists must identify, at the time of application, the name(s) of the artist(s) with whom they intend to share a booth.

  • Booth fees are assessed per artist based on the total number of artists sharing the booth and are due after acceptance.

  • Artists sharing a booth are responsible for clearly identifying their individual work within the booth.

  • Each artist in a shared booth remains eligible for individual awards, provided their work is clearly distinguishable to the judge(s).

 

Booth Setup & Operations

  • Each booth space measures 10’ x 10’.

  • Exhibitors must provide their own tent, display structures, tables, and chairs.

  • Tents must be securely weighted; stakes are not permitted.

  • Electricity and Wi-Fi are not available.

  • Exhibitors are responsible for keeping their booth orderly, safe, and within assigned boundaries at all times.

 

Professional Conduct

  • Exhibitors are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner throughout the event.

  • The FAA reserves the right to intervene, relocate, or remove any Exhibitor whose behavior or display is deemed unsafe, disruptive, or inconsistent with the standards of the event. Decisions regarding conduct and booth compliance are at the discretion of the FAA and are final.

 

Artwork Sales

  • All artwork displayed must be for sale, with prices clearly marked.

  • All sales transactions are conducted directly between the Exhibitor and the purchaser.

  • The FAA is not responsible for sales, pricing, disputes, or payment processing.

 

Tax Compliance

  • Exhibitors are responsible for complying with all applicable Illinois state and local tax regulations.

  • Exhibitors must collect and remit any required sales taxes to the Illinois Department of Revenue.

  • The FAA assumes no responsibility for tax collection or reporting by Exhibitors.

 

Judging & Awards

  • Artwork will be reviewed during the event by the appointed judge(s).

  • Awards are presented to individual artists.

  • Artwork is evaluated based on artistic skill, creativity, and overall merit, using the judge’s independent rubric.

  • Awards are not medium- or category-based.

  • Judges’ decisions are final.

  • Failure to comply with event rules may result in disqualification from awards.

 

Cancellations & Refunds

  • Accepted Exhibitors must remit booth fees by the stated deadline. Failure to do so may result in forfeiture of participation.

  • Cancellations received in writing by June 1, 2026, are eligible for a refund of booth fees minus a $20 processing fee.

  • Cancellations after June 1, 2026, are non-refundable.

 

Promotional Use of Images

  • The Exhibitor grants permission to the FAA and Art on the Green to photograph and use images of their artwork and booth for promotional purposes without compensation.

  • Promotional use may include print materials, websites, social media, and other marketing platforms.

  • This consent extends to promotional efforts for future Art on the Green events.

 

Liability Waiver

  • The Exhibitor releases the Frankfort Arts Association, its officers, volunteers, and representatives from all liability for loss, theft, damage, or destruction of artwork, equipment, displays, or other property.

  • The Exhibitor agrees not to hold the FAA responsible for accidental loss, injury, or damage of any kind.

  • The Exhibitor is responsible for any damage caused to festival grounds, equipment, or facilities.

 

Acknowledgment of Terms

  • Submission of an application constitutes acknowledgment that the Exhibitor has read, understood, and agrees to abide by all rules, policies, and terms outlined herein.

  • Failure to comply with these terms may result in removal from the event and exclusion from future FAA programs.

 

Apply

Each artist must submit an online application by April 1, 2026.
Artists sharing a booth must each submit a separate application.

Art on the Green 2026 includes several updates to booth sharing and media flexibility. Artists may now share a booth with up to two other artists (each artist must apply separately) and may exhibit work in multiple media.
