Where is it?

In the basement unit of the Olde Frankfort Mall (the bowling alley building) in the historical downtown area! 20 S. White St, Frankfort.

When will it be open for business?

Soft Opening on Thursday, April 18, 2024, 9 AM - 12 PM

Grand Opening on April 30, 2024, 5-7 PM

How big is it?

1450 square feet. It's big enough for a retail space, cozy gathering area, and a creative workspace!

How long is the lease?

Our lease is for 5 years, with rent due every month. We're excited to be able to make the place our own and strengthen the Frankfort art scene. We will need community support to make it a success. That includes sponsorships, donations, and partnerships, as well as shopping at our store and signing up for classes. We're a nonprofit charity organization and we can't meet our mission without your support.

What will you sell in the shop?

All kinds of art made by area artists. We hope to have original paintings, ceramics, jewelry, woodwork, fiber art, glass art, etc, as well as fine art prints and products printed with original artwork of FAA member artists. This will include treasures such as cards, notebooks, mugs, magnets, ornaments, tote bags, scarves, etc. It will be a year-round art market!

How can I get my art into the shop?

Artists must be current paid members of FAA and agree to the commission split. FAA will retain 30% of all sales. The artist will receive 70%. FAA will handle sales tax. Any discounts (e.g., the 10% member's discount) will come from the FAA's portion. Interested member artists can sign up HERE.

Who will work in the shop and what will be the hours?

Like all of our endeavors to date, Underground will be staffed entirely by volunteers. Christina Cooley, the current FAA president, will oversee the store and has committed to being there on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday mornings. We will expand our open hours as volunteers can commit to consistent time slots.

Classes can be offered at times that work for teaching artists, whether or not the retail shop is open. Propose a class HERE.
