FAA at Studio C:
Golden Hour
January 15 - February 22, 2026

Call for Art
FAA member artists (with Artist-level paid membership) are invited to submit entries for an exhibit at our gallery in downtown Frankfort inside Studio C.
Frankfort, IL 60423
That fleeting moment when everything glows. Golden Hour celebrates warmth, radiance, and the colors that make us feel alive. Whether inspired by sunlight, metallic shimmer, or the warmth of memory, this show welcomes luminous works that capture light in all its beauty.
How your work might fit:
-
Realism: Paint or photograph a glowing sunset, a sunlit field, or golden reflections on glass or water.
-
Photography: Capture natural light at its peak — the rich tones just before sunrise or dusk.
-
Abstract: Express warmth and luminosity through glowing color fields, metallic textures, or fluid movement that evokes light itself.
Here are some examples of artworks that artists might submit for this exhibit, but as always, think about how the theme might work with your artwork. The themes of members' exhibits are meant to inspire and challenge, but not to exclude.
-
Sunlit Garden – A glowing scene where light transforms ordinary color into gold.
-
City at Dusk – Streets bathed in warm evening light, reflections shimmering on windows.
-
Morning Still Life – Everyday objects caught in the first light of day.
-
Fields of Light – Rolling landscapes infused with soft, golden tones.
-
Radiant Abstraction – A play of luminous color that captures warmth and optimism.
GUIDELINES:
-
FAA member artists may submit one original work to be included in the show.
-
Most subjects, styles, and techniques will be accepted, from realistic to abstract.
-
Submitted works can be in any medium, 2D or 3D, except for video.
-
Hanging works must be no larger than 40" x 40" without prior permission.
-
Non-hanging 3D works may be any size provided they fit well in the gallery, either free-standing or on a pedestal.
-
Unless you hear otherwise, consider your entry accepted for the members' show.
RULES:
-
The exhibit is open to active FAA Member Artists.
By JANUARY 5, 2026:
-
To participate in this exhibit, member artists must complete the online entry form below and upload a photo of their artwork.
-
The image will be used on the FAA website where buyers can purchase your artwork. If the piece is Not for Sale, the photo may still be on the website but marked as unavailable.
-
2-dimensional work must be properly wired and ready to hang; no sawtooth hangers. Wires should not show above the work when hung. Work should be framed unless done on gallery-wrapped canvas (at least 1.5" thick). Wrapped edges must be finished. Fiber art is accepted but please provide a way to hang it on our system which uses hooks.
-
Attach a label to the back of your work (or bottom on 3D art) with your name and the piece's title.
-
Curators reserve the right to refuse work that does not meet the requirements or is considered too fragile for the exhibit.
-
All work remains on exhibit for the duration of the show. If purchased, the piece will remain in place until the show has ended, and arrangements will be made with the purchaser for pick-up.
-
Unless requested otherwise by the artist, permission is given to the FAA to use any images of exhibited work for publicity or educational purposes.
FEES AND COMMISSION:
-
There is a nonrefundable $15 fee to participate. After submitting your entry, make your payment.
